About Us:
The Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association (CHPCA) is the national voice for quality hospice palliative care in Canada. We advance hospice palliative care across the country by providing education, raising awareness, influencing public policy, and collaborating with provincial hospice palliative care associations.
Vision and Values:
CHPCA’s vision is for everyone in Canada to have equitable access to quality hospice palliative care. Our work is guided by our values, including respect, equity, integrity, accountability, and collaboration.
Making a Difference
- Hospice palliative care is unknown or misunderstood by many in Canada. CHPCA raises awareness among the public, caregivers, and health care workers so that more patients with serious illnesses who would benefit from palliative care know how it can support them.
- Launching in 2025: The Last Aid® course – often described as a First Aid course for end-of-life – is for caregivers, or for anyone who wants to learn more about supporting those around them during dying, death, and grieving.
- Advance Care Planning (ACP) Canada is a collaborative initiative led by CHPCA. This initiative aims to help people living in Canada prepare for their future health and personal care.
- We advocate for the inclusion of palliative care in health policy discussions, reinforce the need for prioritised funding, and amplify the voices of patients, caregivers, and communities where it matters most.
